ADAMS – Spurgeon W. "Bud," 86, Johnstown, died Oct. 24, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 27, 1923, in Johnstown, son of Spurgeon J. and Agnes (Petrusky) Adams. Predeceased by wife, the former Phyllis Burkhart, and daughter-in-law, Linda (Conner) Adams. Survived by sons, Wayne, Johnstown; Gary, married to the former Mary Topper, Sidman; and A. Dennis, married to the former Linda Spencer, Reading; grandchildren, Jaime L. Oaks, Holly E. Babyak, Michelle L. Lis, Amanda B. Gautreaux and Elizabeth S. Adams; five great-grandchildren; and special friend, Romayne Yeager, South Fork. Also survived by dog, "Barney." Spurgeon was a machinist for Bethlehem Steel Corp., a member of Albright United Methodist Church and an avid HAM Radio operator with call number W3ZKO, known as "Bud." He was issued the highest class operating license and made many friends over the entire world. He was also an avid animal lover and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hindman Funeral Homes and Crematory, 146 Chandler Ave., where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Ruth Ann Moore officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
