John W. Peterson, son of Christian and Elizabeth Peterson, was born in Tiffin Township, Defiance County, Ohio, March 4, 1849. He grew to manhood in this pioneer home helping to clear the land and till the soil, being a great factor in making the township what it is. Jan 1, 1880 he was united in marriage to Emaline Linebrink. To this union were born three sons and one daughter, one son dying in infancy and one son Clarence who died in May 1922. Mrs. Peterson preceded him in death October 22, 1921. Mr. Peterson was a stalwart christian man whose influence was felt throughout the community. He loved to read God's word and took it for his guide. He was called to meet his God on Wednesday evening, March 4, 1925 at the age of 76 years. -The Bryan Press - March 12, 1925
