1911 - 2005

Margaret Elizabeth Brandon of Chanute passed away Monday, February 14, 2005, at Heritage Health Care Center. She was 93.

She was born in Chanute on September 27, 1911, and lived in Chanute all her life. She was the daughter of the late John and Martha (Woosley) Ivy.

She was united in marriage on September 3, 1927 to Fred Brandon. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1997.

Mrs. Brandon worked as manager of Elaine's Fashions and Edmiston's Department Store as well as a sales person for Barr's Fashions. She obtained her realtor's license in 1976 and sold real estate until she retired in 1995. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 385.

Joining the First Baptist Church in 1931, she was a faithful member until illness prevented her from active participation.

She is survived by her son, Fred Brandon and his wife, Nancy, of Aberdeen, Maryland; one granddaughter, Martha Anderson and her husband, Paul, of Baltimore, Maryland; one great granddaughter, Sophia Grace Anderson; a sister-in-law, Ava Shepard of Chanute; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Gladis Adams and Lula Cowell, and her brothers, Thad Ivy and Jim Ivy.

Funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2005 at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Richard Qualls officiating.

Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors on Friday from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, and may be left with the funeral home.

Arrangements were under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.
