BENNINGTON - Nelson Wayne Penwell, 71, of Vermont Veterans Home, died July 18, 2004. He was born April 10, 1933, in West Virginia, the son of Bruce and Margaret (Panter) Penwell. He was educated in West Virginia.

Mr. Penwell worked as a boiler worker in different manufacturing plants for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

He enjoyed listening to country music and playing the guitar.

Survivors include a sister, Phyllis Bowman.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at Vermont Veterans Home. Burial will follow in Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bennington. There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Residents Activities Fund, Vermont Veterans Home through the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, 05201.
