In 1930, William Saffold and his family lived in the Shady Glen community of rural Calhoun County. On 7 Nov 1930, Alvin tragically suffered from accidental self inflected gun shot wounds. Alvin is buried in an unmarked grave in the Cane Creek Cemetery. It is suggested that he is buried next to his maternal grandparents (Taylor and Catherine Hughes) in the far right corner of the cemetery.
