Hannah M. Moore was born in 1850, the daughter of Lemuel C. and Rebecca A. Moore.
She was a teacher at the academy at New Providence, Iowa. Among her students were Frank O. Lowden, who became a Governor of Illinois, and Will Hays, who became a Postmaster General.
Hannah married John Dayton Humphreys on March 10, 1874. The couple kept house on a farm in the North Star neighborhood. In 1919, the family moved from Zearing, Iowa, to Albion, Iowa. They were the parents of 9 children: Oliver, Elizabeth, Martha, Claude, Vesta, Jennie, Wayne, Merle, and George.
Hannah M. Humphreys passed away in 1922.
