Betty Louise Lance Miner, age 74, peacefully slipped away on Sunday, January 17, 1999, and returned to the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ, and her eternal companion, George, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1997. She endured with courage, dignity, and grace her 15 month battle with a virulent form of lung fibrosis, and finally succumbed after a brief struggle with pneumonia.

She was born August 28, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lynn E. Lance and Hilda Terry. Betty married the love of her life, George Calvin Miner, on December 31, 1942. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on February 24, 1943.Mom was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and faithfully served in all the many capacities to which she was called. Her greatest love, however, was the Relief Society in which she labored for many years as a teacher, a leader, and a Stake Relief Society president. Mom was truly a teacher, a leader and an honorable example of righteous living to her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Mom is survived by her three children, Marcia (Terry) Smoot, Farmington; Lance (Mary Ann) Miner, Orem; Graham Miner, Conroe, Texas; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also one brother, Lynn T. Lance. Preceded in death by her husband, parents and granddaughter, Tonya.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 1999 at the Val Verda 6th Ward Chapel, 2651 South 500 West, Bountiful. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Thursday morning from 11:45 - 12:45 a.m. at the church. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
