Millen, John G. -- died 15 Mar 1886, at the home of his son-in-law, J. M. Whedbee in Maryville, Mo., aged 83. He came to Gentry Co., Mo. In 1854. He was born in South Carolina, 12 Feb 1803. Moved with his parents to Ky.. Afterwards he moved to Morgan Co., Ill and lived there many years, The he moved with his family to Gentry Co. and settled on the Prairie in the area of Ford. At that time, there were few residents in that part of the Co., He improved his farm. His house was on the state road, leading from Albany to St. Joseph, Mo., where he kept the Post Office and alter he moved into Albany. His wife died in Albany some years ago, Ten children were born and 4 survive him--Mrs. Dr. Antrobus, of Denver, Mo.; Mrs. G. P. Taylor , of King City, Mo.; M. L. Millen, the cashier of the Gentry Bank at Albany and Mrs. J. H. Shedbee, of Maryville, Mo.. He was a diabetes for many years. Services at the Cumberland Presbyterian church at King City. Burial in Millen cemetery, 4 miles northeast of King City, near old homestead.
