Emigrated from Westfalen, Germany with Ludwig Joseph Brambrink, C.A. Hunck and others when he was in his 20's. He first landed in St. Paul and then got a job as a farm hand at St. John's University after two months in St. Paul. Two years later he went to help C.A. Hunck in his store. Hunck started the Duelm store and named it after a town or (store) in Westfalen. This is where Theodore met his future wife, Julia, who was also working for Hunck.
He was the Town accessor for St. George, Benton, Minnesota for 17 years.
