Although not yet officially verified, the R. appears to have been for Ratcliff, not Roger as most of his family assumed.

Came to Oregon at age 18. Worked as a cowboy around the Pine Creek district for many years.
Wrote lots of love letters to Margaret while he was living in Echo, before they were married. Made home in Echo after marriage.
He operated a restaurant, service station and campground for many year
s. Later, he farmed a small place near Stanfield until his retirement.
He was an ardent hunter and fisherman and spent much of his spare time in the Blue Mountains.
Rev. A. Warn officiating clergyman, honeymooned in Pendleton via train ride. Bridal gown--cream messalene, groom--conventional black.
Bride and groom were school mates in Missouri. Moved from the East cottage on Kennedy street to W.J. Wattenbarger residence (July 1).
Suffered a stroke while visiting daughter (Ruth) in Burns, OR, and had been semi-invalid since.
Died of a heart ailment and pneumonia at St. Anthony's Hospital, Pendleton on Sunday. Funeral service at Echo Methodist Church. Buried in Olney Cemetary, Pendleton.
Member of the United Brethren Church and of Maccabee Lodge.
