Obit: Mrs. Joseph Langer - The sad news was imparted last Monday, May 17th, of the death of Mrs. Joseph Langer, at her home in this city. Deceased was born in Bohemia, in 1834. In 1855 she came to this country, with her parents, and settled in Carlton. In 1857 she married Mr. Joseph Langer, who resided at that time, in Carlton. They were one of the first families to settle in Carlton, which at that time was nothing but forest. They cleared the land and built a small log cabin. Indians at that time were plentiful, and by trading with them, Mr. and Mrs. Langer, gained many useful articles which helped them to compete with the conditions of pioneer life in a new country. Fifteen years ago Mrs. Langer came to this city, with her husband, and has remained here since. She had a large circle of friends and acquaintances, all of whom regret to hear of her demise. A kind, loving and generous mother and wife, were qualities that endeared her in the hearts of those who knew her. Deceased is survived by her husband, Mr. Joseph Langer of this city, and by three sons and three daughter; Mrs. Katherine Mach, Mrs. Anna Svoboda and Mrs. Jos. Gallenberger, Mr. Joseph, Mr. Frank, and Mr. Sam Langer. Three brothers also survive, Messrs. Nic, Wenzel and Frank Pelnar, and the following named sisters, Mrs. Daehler of Montpelier, Mrs. Katherine Yagle of Carlton and Mrs. Nizer of Manitowoc. The funeral was held Wednesday, May 19th, at the Catholic Church. Father Kubale officiating.
