COCHRAN - Graveside services for Mr. Harley "Drew" Abney, 84, of Cochran who died Saturday, October 13, 2007 in Bleckley Memorial Hospital will be held at 11A.M. Monday, October 15, 2007 in Mt. Calvary Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Lane Collins and Rev. Buford Raffield officiating. -Mr. Abney was a lifelong resident of Bleckley County, the son of the late B. F. and Pauline Faucett Abney. He was a veteran of W.W. II having served in the Army Air Corp. He was a retired farmer and fertilizer distributor and member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Hulme Abney and a son, William Larry Abney. -Survivors include a daughter: Becky Sawyer (Glenn) of Cochran; grandchildren: Shayne Abney (Cori) and Shawn Little (Nicole), both of Cochran, Brian Abney (Christy) of Hawkinsville, Will Jester of Macon and Crystal Leatherwood (John) of Silverton, Texas; three great grandchildren. -In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 134 Abney Road, Cochran, GA 31014. -The family may be contacted at the residence at 122 Abney Road and will meet friends at Fisher Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday night. -Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
