Bobbie Ruth Adams, age 74, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009. She was born February 25, 1935 in Happy Valley to Hoyt and Bertha Sellars White. Mrs. Adams has a Master's Degree in Special Education from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. She taught special education for 25 years in Brighton, Colorado, and was the Outstanding Young Educator of Colorado in 1970. After retirement she moved to Maryville, where she became actively involved in the Special Olympics and was a teacher's assistant at Eagleton Elementary. She was a member of Chilhowee Primitive Baptist Church in Happy Valley since her youth. She is preceded in death by her father, Hoyt White and brother, Kenny White. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Rendon; son, Jesse Adams; grandchildren, Brandi Woltman, Sarah Muniz, Justin Adams, Jared Rendon, and Megan Rendon; step-granddaughter, Rosa Hollingshead; 9 great-grandchildren; mother, Bertha White; brothers, Billie Joe White, Birch White, and David White; sisters, Betty Boring and Lorene Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Area 15 Special Olympics, P.O. Box 789, Alcoa, TN 37701. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Chilhowee Primitive Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeff Patton officiating, the interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
