Taylor, News has been received in Fort Smith of the death of Capt. W.H. Taylor, which occured Monday afternoon in Little Rock following a long illiness. Capt. Taylor formorly was captain of police in Fort Smith and was once United States Marshal of the eastern district of Oklahoma, he was 54 at the time of his death. Surviving him are his widow, two sons, E.O. Taylor & Murrell, of Fort Smith and a daughter, Mrs Effie Mace of Tulsa. The body will be brought to Fort Smith Tuesday afternoon and funeral services will be held at 4:30 o'clock at the family home, 804 South Twelfth Street. Rev. John F. Johnson, pastor of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Cemetery. (Southwest American Newspaper. Feb. 19, 1918)
