After receiving degrees from the University of Illinois, University of Michigan and Battle Creek College; Warren E. Bow served as both superintendent of the Detroit Public Schools and President of Wayne University from 1942-1945. He fought in WWI - 32nd Div Capt 119th Field Artillery in France (promoted to Major and member of Field Artillery Instructional staff with the AEF), and upon his return to Detroit in 1919, became a principal at Nordstrum High School. In 1922, Bow accepted the assistant deanship at the Detroit Teacher's College, and served from 1926-1930. Bow was appointed assistant superintendent of schools in 1930, and led the technical and vocational schools. In July 1932 Warren E. Bow was named superintendent of schools and president of Wayne University. He also served as principal of Cass Technical High School in Detroit. Warren E. Bow was a member of Phi Chapter – University of Illinois and Mason (Knight Templar), AASR and Shriner. He died in his sleep while holding the office of President of Wayne University.
