James Ronald Holt, Sr., 67, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, in a Kingstree nursing center after a long illness.


Mr. Holt was born in Mullins, SC, a son of Margaret Jackson Holt and the late Raleigh A. Holt, Sr. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Indiantown Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Indiantown High School and a former member of the SC National Guard.

Mr. Holt attended Campbell College where he played baseball. He enjoyed piloting small aircraft. Surviving are his wife, Carmen "Polly" Gaskins Holt of the home; children, Shannon H. (Chris) Reed of Summerville, SC and James R. "Tike" (Deidra) Holt, Jr. of Nesmith, SC; mother, Margaret J. Holt of Nesmith, SC; twin granddaughters, Erin and Meredith Reed of Summerville, SC; brother, David Carrol (Mary Jean) Holt of Kingstree, SC; sister, Dorothy Lee (Charles) Snowden of Hemingway, SC; mother-in-law, Audrey Gaskins of Lake City, SC. Mr. Holt was predeceased by two brothers, Raleigh A. Holt, Jr. and Thomas Ralph Holt, Sr.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, in the Indiantown Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the church cemetery.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009. Memorial may be made to the Indiantown Presbyterian Church, 4865 Hemingway Highway, Hemingway, SC 29554.
