Buried in the Girton family plot with his mother Grace and grandparents Charles D. and Edna G. and his step father Robert G. Baird.
Longtime mechanic, former Bloom Fire Chief Glenn C. Beckley Sr., age 73, of 222 E. Seventh St., Berwick, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at his residence. He had lived in Berwick for the past two years. Prior to that he lived on East Street,Bloomsburg, for over 70 years.Glenn was born Feb. 20, 1936, in Bloomsburg,the son of the late Robert Beckley and Grace (Girton)Baird, and was a 1954 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. Glenn was an eight-year member
of the Navy Air Corps Reserve. He was last employed as a mechanic at the former Baird's Arco & Exxon for many years.
Glenn was a member of Trinity Reformed U.C.C., Bloomsburg. A former Bloomsburg Fire Chief, he was a member of Rescue and Winona Fire Companies and a member of Bloomsburg Fireman's Relief as well as American Legion Post 273, Bloomsburg.Survivors include two daughters: Glenda Brink and her husband, Ronald, Mifflinville; Sheri Renner, Bloomsburg; a son, Glenn C. Beckley Jr., Berwick; and six grandchildren.Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bloomsburg Fire Department, 911 Market St., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
