Delbert was born September 8,1919 a son of Delbert Sanders and Lois Gertrude Stouffer Stouffer Barkdoll of Cavetown and was the husband of two wife's whom predeceased him. His first wife Reba Palmer Barkdoll died in 1997 and Margaret E. Swope Barkdoll, 2001.

Delbert had been employed with Green and Daley Contractors and retired from Jamison Door Company of Hagerstown where he spent the last 26 years prior to retiring.

Delbert was a member of the Garfield United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 10, Boonsboro.

He was survived by two daughters, Janet L. Barkdoll of Hagerstown and Carolyn Garnard, Fairplay, one step-daughter, Olivia Boyd, of Hagerstown and two step-sons, Charles D. Nally and Anthony D. Nally Sr.,

Delbert is survived by, six sisters, Julie E. O'Neal, Smithsburg, M. Regina Woodring, Waynesboro, Louise M. Kline of Smithsburg, Elsie Catherine Naile and Helen E. Black, both of Waynesboro, and Lois G. Miller of , Edgemont, three brothers, Richard E. Barkdoll of Arlington, Va., Edward G. Barkdoll of Edgemont, and Samuel L. Barkdoll of Sabillasville, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Delbert was predeceased by his two wifes, a daughter, Valerie Mae Smith, one sister, Isabelle V. Kendall, and two brothers, Walter Dale Barkdoll and Arthur Franklin Barkdoll.
