Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., for Mrs.Rachel Kathern Gibson Burton, 74, well known Thealka resident, who died at her home at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, after a week's illness. A daughter of the late Hansford and Amanda Ellen Gibson, she was born in Lawrence County June 18, 1889. She was member of the Thealka Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Burton served as magistrate of District No. 1, following her appointment to fill out the unexpired term of her husband, J.Foster Burton, who died while in office. Survivors include five sons, John Burton and Clifford "Bo" Burtonboth of Thealka; James F. Burton, Hamilton, Ohio; Lawrence Burton,Meally; Herbert Burton, Hager Hill; four daughters, Mrs. MitchellE. Daniel, Thealka; Mrs. Sam Auxier, Paintsville; Mrs. ArnoldYoung, Thealka; Mrs. Worth Goble, West Van Lear; three brothers,Ferret Gibson, West Jefferson, Ohio; Proctor Gibson, London, Ohio;Robert Gibson, London, Ohio, a sister, Mrs. Lonza Whitt, Martha.Also surviving are 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
