Old Resident Here,
Passed Away Sunday
Jesus M. De Herrera, near 83 years old, resident of this community for the past 60 years, passed away at the San Rafael hospital at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, after a three months illness.
Born April 6, 1861, at Espanola, N. M., he had come here as a young man, and had lived here ever since. For a number of years he had been employed by the Pople Bros. Cons. Co., and later by contractor Charles Emerick. He had been for some years retired, and was wellknown here.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Virginia De Herrera at El Paso, Texas, four sons and five daughters, 26 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Sons are Joe Celestino and Zackery De Herrera of El Paso, Tex.; Pete, who is with the Navy overseas, and Joe Lawrence De Herrera with the army somewhere overseas. Daughters are Mrs. A. L. Gallegos of El Paso; Mrs. Robert Fisher of Racine, Wis.; Mrs. Manuel Lucero and Dorothy DeHerrera of El Paso, and Mrs. John Calderon of Pueblo. Sister is Mrs. Manuelita Cordova of San Acacio, Colo.
He was a member of the Spanish lodge Fraternidad Denuestro Padre de Jesus of Tijerras.
Funeral will take place Wednesday morning at 8:30 from the Trinidad chapel and 9 o'clock at Holy Trinity Catholic church with burial in the Catholic cemetery. Rosary this evening and again Tuesday evening at 7:30 at the Trinidad chapel.
