Funeral services for Darlene Julia "Dee Dee" Beckendorff, 57, of Sealy, were held Saturday, July 30, at 2 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Hwy 36 Chapel in Sealy, with the Rev. John Tyler officiating. Interment was at Sealy Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doug and Bobby Browne, Ronnie Thrasher, John Kainer, Darin Pacher, and Mike Rossi.

Darlene Julia Beckendorff was born in Sealy, the daughter of Julius and Viola (Kenter) Vykoukal. She lived her life in Sealy, attending Sealy Immaculate Conception Catholic School through 8th grade, graduating from Sealy High School in 1965. Dee Dee and Milton Beckendorff began their 40 years of marriage on May 1, 1965 and were blessed with three sons, Jimmy Allen, Stewart Travis, and Bradley Gene Beckendorff.

Dee Dee's main passion was her family, where she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her next passion was collecting, refurbishing, and selling American antiques. This included her antique business, Country Antiques, serving the Sealy community for over 25 years. As a partner in her marriage, she was also a partner in the family rice farming operation and cattle business.

Dee Dee had a strong commitment to the community, and the preservation of its history. Past associations included the Austin County and Sealy Historical Societies, the Sealy Chamber of Commerce, and the Sealy Football Booster Club. Dee Dee's greatest contribution to the Sealy Community was the preservation and restoration of the Preibisch Building, formerly "My Place," which received a historical marker from the Texas Historical Commission. She was also a managing partner in D&M Cattle Co. and was an active member in the Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Assoc. Dee Dee Beckendorff passed away Thursday, July 28, at her home in Sealy.

Survived by her husband, Milton Beckendorff of Sealy; sons, Jimmy Beckendorff, Brad Beckendorff, Travis and wife, Beverly Beckendorff; grandchildren, Mattie, Jake, Trenton, and Brendon Beckendorff. Also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosie and David Krueger, Patsy and Billy Browne; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Malcolm and Charlene Beckendorff; nieces, Kelley Sommer and Christina Krueger; nephews, Chris Beckendorff, Bobby Browne, Doug Browne, and Steve Browne; as well as many cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Viola Vykoukal.
