Clarence was born in Herrickville, PA and came west with his family. He met and married his wife in Colfax, Iowa. The Camp families eventually made it to a railroad stop in Nebraska. There was no town and no place to stay so the families set about building a town. They constructed a livery stable then a hotel. Later they added business buildings. Clarence learned the photographic art someplace along the road westward. He became the town photographer there. They later moved to Colorado where he again was the town photographer where ever he lived.
