According to Sarah's death certificate, she died from coronary thrombosis and senility.

OBIT:

Funeral services for Mrs. F. M. Bud Gage were held at Christian Funeral Chapel here Sunday afternoon with her pastor, Rev. Loys Vess officiating. Interment was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs Gage passed away in a local hospital Saturday afternoon August 5th at 3:30. A fall sustained at her home several weeks previously was the indirect cause of her death, as she had been ill since that time. She was 82 years of age.

Miss Sarah Elizabeth Weatherby was born in the Sycamore community of Wise County, October 6, 1862, and lived her entire life in this county. She was married to F. M. (Bud) Gage in 1877, and they made their home for many years on a stock farm southwest of Greenwood, rearing a family of three children, one daughter and two sons. he daughter, Mrs. Julia Abbott, an one son, W. G. (Dick) Gage, preceded their parents in death several years ago.

Mrs. Gage was converted and joined the Baptist Church in Greenwood when twelve years of age, and had lived an honorable Christian life during her many years as a church member. After moving to Decatur she joined the Decatur Fundamentalist Baptist Church were she held membership at the time of her death.

Survivors include one son, George T. Gage of Decatur, two grandsons, Elmer Abbott of Decatur and Rex Allen Gage of the U. S. Navy Air Corps, two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. H. M. Tarlton of Electra.

Mr. and Mrs. Gage lived a long and happy life together, having been married 47 years at the time of Mr. Gage's death in March 1939. After their children were grown, and married, Mr. and Mrs. Gage moved to Decatur where they resided for twenty five years.

Mrs. Gage was known, loved, and respected throughout Wide County, and the hundreds of friends and neighbors of years standing, and the huge floral offerings at the service, gave evidence of love and affection of the entire community.

Pallbearers were Bill Alexander, W. A. Mauldin, J. J. Rieger, W. T. Hill, J. W. Brady, and H. M. Mooney.
