Services Held for James B. Harris ~
James Bradley Harris was born in Wise County in the Grafton community, May 20, 1894 and has lived his entire life in Wise County. He attended school at Crafton and lived in that community until five years ago. He was married to Miss Lucy White of Paradise, June 18, 1927. Three children were born to the union, one son passed on in infancy. Jim, as he was well known to his many friends and relatives, was a prosperous stock farmer and had wide acquaintances in Wise County. He was a friend of all who knew him, was very kind and agreeable, a good neighbor and Christian gentleman. He professed faith in his creator in his young manhood and became a member of the Presbyterian Church at Crafton and held membership at the time of his death. The family moved to the Sweetwater community five years ago and since that time they have been regular attendants to the Methodisit Church in Decatur. The family moved into Deca- only a few days before he went to the hospital. He departed this life in a Fort Worth hospital Saturday July 7th at seven twenty a.m. after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Harris of Decatur, one daughter Miss Melba Ruth Harris, Assistant Home Demonstration agent at Waxahachie, Ellis County, one son, Edwin Harris of Saginaw, Texas, five brothers and two sisters who are Mrs. Ben Wells, Fort Worth Rhone Harris of Vernon, Victor and Elbert Harris of Lockney, Claude Harris of Plainview and Willie Harris of Crafton, Mrs. Artie Cone of Bowie. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church in Decatur, Sunday afternoon, June 8th at two o'clock by pastor, Rev. Morris C. Smith. Interment was in Oak Lawn Decatur Cemetery with six nephews acting Pall-bearers who were Weldon Harris, Wilson Harris, Zirrel Cone, Eugene Harris, Barnard Harris and Revis Harris.
