Mary E. (Sime) Baker was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Sylvester) Sime. Mary was born in Abington, MA, her father John was from New Brunswick, Canada, and her mother Elizabeth is listed in the 1860 census as having been from Massachusetts (I am still researching this, tho, since she and John were married in Maine.....)
Mary Elisabeth SIME married Arthur W. Baker on the same day that he died of Typhoid Fever, in Brockton, MA, on Aug 30, 1882, and she never remarried. (Arthur was originally from Westport, MA, but moved to Brockton for factory work.)
I never knew Arthur (my first cousin 3x removed) or Mary, but their story touched me -- They must have loved a lifetime in a very short period of time.
Mary died in 1939, and was buried next to her husband Arthur in Westport, MA, in Linden Grove Cemetery, in the Thomas Weaver Baker family plot (Arthur's Grandfather, and my Gr-Gr-Gr-Grandfather).
