Last Thursday morning, August 8th, Mrs. Patrick Kirwan died during confinement. She gave birth to a bright little babe, who survived its mother, and at this writing still lives. The surrounding circumstances make it very sad indeed. Mr. Kirwan was not at home, as he had gone to Horton, or in that neighborhood the day before. She leaves nine children, six boys and three girls, besides the poor little orphan infant, (which is a girl), who will never know a mother's love and care; and a broken-hearted husband, who has been her stay for 19 years. The babe was born about 4 o'clock, or about 7 hours before the death of its mother.
Mrs. Eliza Kirwan; daughter of Austin and Margaret Foley, was born in December 1850; married to Patrick Kirwan in March 1870; died August 8th, 1889 at 11:40 a.m.
Her only request before she died, was, that they would not bury her for two days, or till her husband could get home. They telegraphed to several places, and found him at Purcell on his way home.
It was indeed a heavy blow for the poor man to lose, in his absence, his companion, a mother of ten children, a good, noble woman; whose superior for true woman-hood, we are told, never lived.
Her remains will be interred in the St. Benedict Cemetery, about 4 miles south of Severance, to-day, (Saturday,) at nine o'clock a.m.
The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. John B. Stader. The bereaved family and friends have our heart-felt sympathy.
