"Veedersburg – Claude H. Ocheltree, 87, 511 W. State St, Veedersburg died at 2 a.m. March 8, 1994 at his residence. He was born in Wingate, Jan 5, 1907, son of Absalom L. and Mariam G Woods Ocheltree. He married Lucile A. Dickey May 16, 1931 in West Union. She survives.

He worked for the VA Hospital as a painter until his retirement in 1970. He was a member of Veedersburg United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School teacher, superintendent and other offices. He was active in scouting and a precinct committeeman for Fountain County Republican party. He was a member of Veedersburg Lions Club and served as president and sec-treas many years. He served as District Governor of 25C and District Zone Chairman. He helped form the Rockville and Marshall Indiana Lions Club and the Veedersburg Lioness Club.

Surviving besides the wife are a son, James T. (Ruth) Ocheltree, Wheaton, Ill; a sister, Melita (Herbert) J. Campbell, West Lafayette and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Funeral services will be held at United Methodist Church, Veedersburg at 2 p.m. today (Friday) with Pastor Richard Russell officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery, Veedersburg. The body will lie in state from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the church.
