Donald was adopted shortly after his mother death by her brother, Lewis Gross and his wife, Della. From what I've been able to find, (purely speculation)...Donald's name shows up on Mary's obit but when legally adopted, Lewis and Della change his name to Clayton Richard Gross and he has the same birth date as Donald. Thus my theory. Clayton died on 2 June 1918 from complications of a bad heart (from his early birth on 21 Jun 1917) & whooping cough.
