R. C. Chandler, 77, 119 E. Sherron St., Sweetser, Ind., died Tuesday, March 29 in Kokomo, Ind., after a seven-week illness.
A native of Bath County, he moved to Grant County, Ind., in 1956. He was the son of the late John Alvin Chandler and the late Nora Ellen Highley. He is survived by his wife, Grace Garnett Wright Chandler.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Horseman's Association of Converse, Ind. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Marlon, Ind.
Additional survivors include five daughters, Mary Ginter, Wilma Hatton, Jeretta Chandler and Sandra Bromfield of Sweetser and Janice Smith of Marion; two sons, Raymond Chandler of Muncie, Ind.,and Larry Chandler of Hendersonville, Tenn.; five sisters, Thelma McLean, Jackie King and Clarina Price of Mt. Sterling, Mayme May of Middletown, Ohio, and Jean Jones of Paris, Ky.; three brothers, Bums Chandler, John Chandler Jr. and Mark Chandler of Mt. SterIing; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 1 at Devine Colonial Mortuary, Marlon, Ind., with Bishop DeWayne Keplinger presiding. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Sweetser.
