Mrs. Alice Edna Summers, long time resident of this community, died at 2:30 o'clock Thursday morning, July 15, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Steele, east of Metz. She had been in poor health for some time.
Deceased was born November 26, 1874, near Montevallo, the daughter of Charles and Martha Williamson Boling, and at her death was aged 90 years, 7 months and 19 days.
The family moved from Montevallo to a farm near Milo, then on what is now a part of Camp Clark near Nevada and in 1892 moved to a farm north of Rinehart.
On September 2, 1894, she was married to William Allen Summers, member of a pioneer Vernon county family. He died in 1938.
Mrs. Summers was a member of the Metz Christian Church.
Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Edna Steele, and two sons, Emmett and Cecil, all of the Metz vicinity, and another son, Edward of Harrisonville; also several nieces and nephews. Two children preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. Earl Bingham of Devon, Kans. officiated and burial was in Rinehart cemetery.
Soloist Mrs. Homer Lyons sang "Pilot of Galilee" and "Sometime We'll Understand." Mrs. Wm. Breneman accompanied.
Casket bearers were Tommie Johnston, Orville Rynard, Bill Breneman, Arch Brown, Bryan Sumner and Earl Steele.
