She was born Iva Blanche McKellar on May 27, 1901 in Elmwood Township and was a life-long resident.
She married Thomas J. Smith on Aug. 4, 1919 in Gagetown, but he preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1981.
She formerly was an employee of C.A. Klein Manufacturing Company and worker in a grocery store. She was a member of Caro Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 4164, the Tuscola County Farm Bureau and the Tuscola County Senior Citizens and attended the Cass City Evangelical Free Church.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Leslie (Bernice) Muntz of Cass City; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by one son Leslie Smith on May 8, 1958; one daughter, Kathleen Smith on Mar. 15, 1960, one daughter-in-law, Alice Smith in July of 1952.
