The Reverend Lewis E. Andrew passed away at his residence in Bethany, Oklahoma on July 26, 2011. He was born August 17, 1921, in Hedley, TX to Ziba L. and Lora (Rhodes) Andrew.

He grew up in Portales, NM. He earned a Bachelors degree in Theology and Philosophy at Bethany-Peniel College in Bethany, OK, a Bachelors of Divinity degree at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL, and a Masters in Counseling from Illinois State University in Bloomington, IL. Rev. Andrew ministered 45 years in the Presbyterian Church in Illinois. This included pastorates in Sandwich and Pekin and an executive position in the Presbytery of Illinois. He was active in the Rotary Club and other community groups. After completing his Masters, he was a high school counselor at Edinburg, IL and pastored at Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church in IL. He retired in Bethany, OK, and pastored Covenant Presbyterian Church and the First Presbyterian Churches in El Reno, Purcell, and Moore, OK. Rev. Andrew married Blanche Madelena Hastings from Wichita, KS in 1943. She preceded him in death after 58 years of marriage. He and Blanche completed extensive genealogical research and published Andrew Search for Identity, a 400-page, in-depth genealogy of his family, and From Whence to Where, a 300-page genealogy of her family. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Rev. J.C. Andrew, he is survived by his sister, Irene Walker of Bethany, OK; four daughters and their husbands, Judith Madeline and Ed Holton of Tulsa, OK, Rebecca Irene and Maynard Kauffman of Homer, AK, Dorothy Ellene and Jimmy Howell of Bethany, OK, Alma Lewis and Ollon Andrada of Corrales, NM; 6 grandchildren, Andrew Isaac and Joy Holton, Connor Rhodes, Jamie Andrew, Rosemary Kauffman, and Puridy Tijerina and her three children, Dustin, Alexi, and Christopher Ray; and a host of extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be Sat., August 20, 10:00 am in Mercer-Adams Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Rhodes Family Memorial Scholarship at Southern Nazarene University, 6728 N.W. 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008.
