OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN)
FORMER POLICEMAN DIES FRIDAY AT HOSPITAL.
John Edward McGath, 79-year-old former member of the Wabash Police force, died Friday night at the Wabash County Hospital where he had been taken a week ago suffering with arterio sclerosis. He had been ill for three weeks.

Mr. McGath came to Wabash 45 years ago from his birthplace in Putnam County, O., where he had been engaged in farming. He was a member of the police force here for 18 years, assuming his post under the chieftainship of Walter Compton.

He was born June 6, 1861, and in September 1907 he was married to Luella Iholtz of Wabash County, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Charles of Bedford, and a step-grandson, Clarence Snoke, of Wabash. His parents, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Wire Funeral Home where the body is lying in state. Rites will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon with #burial in Falls Cemetery.
