Mary Foster was born Mary Herkimer to Judge John Herkimer and Sarah Tenley Herkimer (both buried in Herkime Home Burial Ground). Mary married Amos first but then she died at age 22. Mary's sister, Emily then married Amos Foster. After Amos died, Emily then married Isaac Vincent.

John Herkimer’s second wife, Sarah Tenley, was born @1808, (some 9 years after the birth of his youngest daughter by his first wife), probably near Washington, D.C. Their marriage, in 1825, occurred shortly after the conclusion of John’s term in Congress. After John’s death, Sarah resided in Town of Danube with her son-in-law, Isaac Vincent. About 1880, she removed to Newark, NJ with that family.
