JAMES ALBERT MURPHY was bom 6 July 1872 in Milmine, IL, first son of Robert & Mary Ann Murphy, and died 30 May 1929 at Colorado Springs, CO.

On 6 Mar 1898, James married Ada Belle Broyles of Hammond, IL. She was born 29 Jan 1878 at Flora, Clay Co.,IL, 1921 Piatt Co., d/o William & Rachel Chaney.

The U.S. Census of 1900 showed this couple iving in Unity Township. Ada Belle inherited a farm near Hammond, IL, from her parents, 240 acres with a lovely home and farm buildings. James farmed this land until 1924.

When Ada died in 1921, the three surviving children, Malcolm, Dorothy and Fleta, inherited the farm, and Dorothy's husband, Jack Simmons, farmed the land until he retired in 1965. Jack says his father-in-law was a very devout man who loved his family.

Some time after Ada's death, James moved to Colorado to be with his son, Malcolm, who was teaching at Lake City. It was hoped the move would improve the health of Fleta, who was never very well.

James died 30 May 1929 of "acute dilatation of Heart and myocarditis" at the age of 56 years, 10 months, 24 days.

Burial was at Hammond, IL. There were four children of this marriage, but
no grandchildren.
