Julius E. Albertson of Gary passed away at the Ada Municipal Hospital on Thursday afternoon, September 9th, at the age of 87 years.

Julius Edward Albertson was born May 14, 1889, on a farm in Home Lake Township near Twin Valley, the son of Nels and Anne Albertson. He was baptized in the East Wild Rice Lutheran Church, and moved to Strand Township with his parents when he was 13 years old. He was confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church and attended country schools in Norman County.

On July 7, 1917, he was united in marriage to Bertha Ysen at the St. Petri Lutheran Church. They then made their home on a farm in Strand Township where he was actively engaged in farming for many years. He also operated a threshing rig for several years. For years he sang in the church choir, and the later years also sang in the Lutheran Memorial Chapel Choir.

He was a past member of the township board and of the St. Petri Church Council. In 1949 he and his wife retired and moved into Gary where he lived for about 20 years. His wife Bertha passed away June 25, 1966. Because of his age and health, he has been a resident of the Lutheran Memorial Retirement Center for almost six years.

From a family of 12 members originally, he is now survived by three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Carl (Nora) Ysen and Mrs. Irvin (Gina) Kuderling, both of Gary; Mrs. Arthur (Myrtle) Farmer, Waterloo, Iowa; Clarence Albertson, Twin Valley.

There are also several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were held in St. Petri Lutheran Church, rural Gary, on Monday, Sept. 13th, at 3:00 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Daehlin officiating. The Rev. Kermit Graves brought special greetings from the Lutheran Memorial Homes. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Moen sang two vocal duets, and Mrs. Selmer Gullingsrud was church organist.

Pallbearers, all nephews, were Morris Ysen, Lloyd Toftner, Orville Flaaten, Norman Albertson, Sanford Albertson and Ivan Kuderling.

Interment was made in the St. Petri Church Cemetery, with Erlien Funeral Home of Twin Valley in charge of arrangements.
