Troy - Alice L. Call 91 died Nov. 8, 2002 at a Hartland health care facility. She was born in Dixmont June 23, 1911 the daughter of Harry and Bessie (Payne) Leeman. She attended schools in Central Maine and graduated 8th grade at the Troy Center School.

She married George A. Call Sr. Nov. 27, 1929. He died in 1987 following 58 years of marriage. Alice. She joined the Sebasticook Grange #90 in 1944 which was later known as the Seven Star Grange in Troy, where she was an active member for over 50 years an became a life time member. She held every office in the grange including Master for several years. She was an active member of the Rebekahs for more than 35 years. She was a founding member of the Troy Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary and served for 50 years. She was a founding member of the Troy Trotters Senior Citizens Club, a founding member of the One-Room School Reunion in Troy, a founding member of the Troy Center School PTA. For many years she was a 4-H leader and an assistant Girl Scout leader. She was also active in several organizations for the blind. Alice was employed in several factories in Burnham and Belfast, but most of all she was a homemaker and farmer for most of her life, running the family farm with her husband.

She is survived by three daughters; Ethel Tibbetts of Troy, Bessie Mitchell of Boothbay Harbor, Marieda Call of Vasselboro, two sons; Maurice Call of Burnham, George Call Jr. of Troy, a sister-in-law Opal Ireland of Dexter, 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 25 great great grandchildren, and was anxiously anticipating the birth of her first great great great grandchild in the spring of 2003. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be sadly missed by a special granddaughter Mable Metivier and special friends Carmine, Dan, Ernie, Thelma, Eileen, Eleanor, and Jackie.

She was predeceased by her husband George, sister Dora Quimby Atwater, brothers Oscar Ireland, and Arthur Leeman, a son Royal Call and grandson Ashley Call.

Graveside services will be conducted in the Spring at the family lot in the Rogers Cemetery Troy. (Brown Funeral Home on-line)
