Mrs. Patricia C. Hawkins, 62, formerly of 208 Parker St., Lexington, departed this life on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a brief illness.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Patricia Scott at the chapel of Morrison-Studevent Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.

Patricia was born Aug. 20, 1947, in Rowan County to Morris Vaughters and Ruby Vaughters. She attended Dunbar High School in Lexington, retired from Council Craftsman in Denton, and loved to fish, cook, and attend to children. She was a Baptist by faith.

Preceding her in death was her father.

Left to cherish her memory is a son, James "Little Ed" Hawkins, and her mother, Ruby Vaughters, both of Lexington; four brothers, Willie Lee Vaughters and his wife, Delores, of Southmont, Gordon Vaughters and Gil Vaughters and his wife, Lavonnie, all of Connecticut, and Jerome Vaughters and his wife, Gloria, of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Kay and Mary Vaughters of Connecticut, and Loretta Vaughters of Lexington; three granddaughters, Cassie and Chrystal McMillian, and Neiya McCauley, all of Lexington; a grandson, Christopher Cotton; four great-grandchildren; Aunt Marietta Neely of Salisbury; Uncle Horace Vaughters of Cleveland, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The remains can be viewed Wednesday from 1 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until the funeral hour. Morrison-Studevent Funeral Home is serving the family.
