Imogene O'Rear Garrett was born November 1, 1928 in Marshall Hill, Oklahoma to James A. and Ida Mae (Gregg) O'Rear.

She died on Thursday, September 20, 207 at Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 78.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Imogene grew up and attended school at Marshall Hill. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Southeastern State Teacher's College at Durant, Oklahoma in 1949. Imogene had lived in Lawton since 1963. She taught first grade at Edison Elementary from 1964 until her retirement in 1977.

She married Victor Dale Garrett on December 23, 1950 at Lawton. She was a member of First Baptist West for over 43 years. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, playing bridge, and mainly spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale; granddaughter Laura Garrett; her parents; six brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by three sons: Victor Dale Garrett Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Austin A. Garrett and wife Judy, Baytown, Texas; and Douglas A. Garrett and wife Susie, Lawton, Oklahoma; a daughter, Valerie Bishop and husband Danny, Lawton, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: Justin and Brenden Garrett, Baytown, Texas; Bryan Garrett, Fort Worth, Texas; Kyle Bishop and wife Nicole, Lockhart, Texas; Eddie Bishop, Lawton, Oklahoma; Lisa Kaulaity and husband Arley, Moore, Oklahoma; and Troy Garrett, Norman, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren, two sisters: Pauline Williams, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and Laura Schmuckler, Dover, Delaware, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
