Calvin Grant Cagle, 80, of 400 Old Highway 25, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001.

Husband of Beatrice Barnett Cagle, he was born in Athens, Tenn., a son of the late Ulysses Grant Cagle and Nola Moore Cagle Bell.
He was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens, Slater Plant, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 106th Mechanized Cavalry. He was a member of the 106th Veterans Cavalry Group, American Legion Post No. 3 of Greenville, the D.A.V. and V.F.W. 10058.

Mr. Cagle was a member of Marietta First Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, usher, and had served as an assistant teacher of the Sunday School Class at Stroud Nursing Home. He also helped with the Migrant Ministry.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Cagle Richardson, of Valley View, Utah; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ray of Greenville, Peggy Jarrell of Greer, and Myrtle C. Hudson of Travelers Rest; three nieces, Wanda Campbell of Piedmont, Sandra Harris of Travelers Rest, and Karen Vickery of Easley; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Edna Cagle Gosnell; and a brother, Melvin A. Cagle.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Marietta First Baptist Church. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the residence.
