SAMUEL E. DOUGLAS, 80, of RR 2, Sayre, Pa., died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at the Robert Packer Hospital. Born March 12, 1918 in Quicks Bend, Pa., the son of Roy and Joyce Justin DOUGLAS, he owned and operated Douglas Body Shop until his retirement. He enjoyed wood working, camping, hunting, fishing and time spent with family and friends. He was a member of the Sayre Presbyterian Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose #1490 of Waverly, N.Y., and the Tom Jack Camping Club.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Martha in 1980; a son, Paul in 1940 and a brother, Lawrence. He is survived by his wife, Clara, of the Bradford County Manor; daughters and sons-in-law, Genevieve and Alston TEETER of Milan, Barbara and Merle EIFFERT of Troy; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Jay and Janet DOUGLAS of Evansville, Ind.; step-children, Oscar W. FRENCH, Jr. of Sayre and Patricia and Walter CASSSELBURY of Chemung, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Harold BROBST of Montrose; brother and sister-in-law, Lamont and Kate DOUGLAS of Lawton; a very special friend, Burdette MASON of Athens.
Friends and family may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 South Main St., Athens. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Heather Croke, pastor of the Sayre Presbyterian Church, officiating and Rev. Lynn Ensign, pastor of the Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church, co-officiating. Burial will be in the Quicks Bend Cemetery, Quicks Bend. Memorial may be made to the Greater Valley Emergency Medical Services, 900 North Lehigh Ave., Sayre, Pa. –Towanda Daily Review.
