Lee Owen Bogue, Jr. was born 11 Aug. 1923 in Long Beach, Los Angeles Co., CA to Lee Owen & Viola Marie (Garrett) Bogue. He died 27 Feb. 1945 in Augsburg, Germany at the age of 21 years, 7 months, 16 days. His B-24 crashed -- shot down by enemy flak during WWII over Augsburg, Germany.
During his childhood he always wanted to be a flyer and while in high school he was active in the Navigator Club, DUNAMIS. While in training for the Air Force, he became a charter member of the Missionary Aviation Fellowship. His goal was to serve with them after the war.
He was a 2nd Lietenant in the Air Force and a co-pilot with a crew that flew a B-24. They were stationed in Italy and flew bombing raids over Czechoslovakia, Germany and Austria. He was reported missing in Feb 1945 and his remains were found and his death confirmed in 1949.
He was first buried on Feb. 1945 in a Civilian Cemetery, Augsburg, Germany (remains interred with several others). They were removed from enemy territory to Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avoid, France. Then in 1955 they were buried in Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis (Independent City), MO. Since he and several others were interred together, they share the same grave and the same stone.
He never married.
