From the death of her husband in 1429 untel 1438 she was regent for her minor son Philipp II. Under her government the city of Saarbrücken developed into the residence of the counts. Beforehand there was no central administration.

In 1439 she divided the lands under her two sons. Her eldest son Philipp II got the territories to the right of the Rhine (Nassau-Weilburg), the other one, Johann II those on the left bank (Nassau-Saarbrücken).

She translated four courtly French romances ("chansons de geste") into German and contributed so to the development of this genre in Germany.
