He was born Nov. 25, 1913, in Steuben Township, rural Sparland, to R. Halsey and Edith (Waugh) Monier. He married Myrtle Hall on June 13, 1943, in Bradford. His wife preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 1982.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Willmina Hogg.
He is survived by one son, Rod (Kathy) Monier of rural Sparland; three granddaughters, Amy (Joel) Anderson of Henry, Lindsey (Travis) McGlasson of Sparland and Megan Monier, also of Sparland; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Joe Monier of Sparland.
He farmed in the Sparland/ La Prairie area his entire life and was a seed salesman.
Bob was a member of the La Prairie United Presbyterian Church, where he served on the session and was an elder. He served on the Presbytery of Blackhawk from 1976 to 1994 on the committees of ministry, planning and budget, general council, and Princeton Mission Cluster and was a representative and delegate to the presbytery.
He was a member of Marshall County Historical Society, Saratoga Cemetery Board, Marshall-Putnam 4-H Foundation Board, and Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau, where he served on the board as treasurer. He was also a red coat greeter at the Methodist Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at the La Prairie United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Huff officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon and one hour prior to the service at his church. Interment will be in La Prairie United Presbyterian Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the La Prairie United Presbyterian Church; the Alzheimer's Association; or the donor's choice.
