Ella was adopted by Carl and Wilhelmine SCHOSSOW; probably in 1894 as she was baptized at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Winona, Winona County, Minnesota on 18 Mar 1894 (Sun).

Ella's baptism sponsors were: Chr. Schossow [not clear whether this is Christian Sr. or Jr.
], Frau C. Bloedow [Augusta (KLEINSCHMIDT) BLOEDOW, wife of Carl] and Frau Wm Wendt.

After giving her up for adoption, Ella's biological mother, Lena (a.k.a. Pauline or Paulina) married Julius BUTENHOFF, Sr. and produced four more daughters. Lena's maiden name is not precisely known since practically every time it was recorded it was spelled differently.

The identity of Ella's biological father is currently unknown but at least one clue suggests that it might be Ganz or Gahnz.

Ella married Reinhard Christian Andreas ROGGOW on 24 Oct 1912 (Thu) at Immanual Lutheran Church in Breckinridge, Garfield County, Oklahoma.
