Leslie Hammon, Dies, A Farmer Near Chilocco
Leslie William Hammon, 34, died at 2:22 Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for pneumonia. Mr. Hammon had only been ill since Sunday, but was in a weakened condition from sleeping sickness suffered four years ago.
Mr. Hammon was born on a farm six miles southeast of Chilocco in Kay county, Aug. 7, 1899, and had lived on the same farm all his life. He was a son of the late Eugene Hammon and Mrs. Ida Hammon, 721 North A street.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rebecca Hammon and three children, Evelyn, Wilma Jean and Richard, and his mother.
Funeral arrangements have not been made because of the condition of the wife, who also has pneumonia. She is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Chambers, 1113 South Second street. The Hill undertaking firm of Newkirk is in charge.

Hammon Funeral Rites To Be Held Thursday
Funeral services for Leslie W. Hammon, who died Jan. 24, of pneumonia, will be held Thursday afternoon at three o'clock in the Methodist Episcopal church, with the Rev. Otto F. Volkland officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery. The Hall Alberti Funeral Home of Newkirk will be in charge.
Mrs. Hammon confined to Strickland hospital with pneumonia will not be able to attend the services for her husband, for whom funeral arrangements were delayed when Mrs. Hammon's condition was critical. Her condition was slightly improved Wednesday.
