Lois M. Adams, 75. She was born in the Oakdale Community of Woods County. OK on July 5, 1934, and died at Oklahoma Methodist Manor in Tulsa, after a long battle with cancer on November 12, 2009. She was the fifth child of a family of eight children born to Ernest and Myrtle (Mitts) Miller. She grew up on the farm and attended the Oakdale rural school for the first eight years. She attended high school for 1 year at Aline, OK and 3 years at Cleo Springs, OK, graduating in 1952. She earned a Bachelors degree with a major in Humanities from Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1956. She was employed in Tulsa with the Campfire Organization as a District Director. She later earned a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree with majors in Education from Tulsa University. She taught school in Tulsa for 17 years at Carver Middle School and 3 years at Byrd Middle School. She was an excellent teacher and a strong supporter of education. After retirement she tutored students who were below grade level with their reading skills. She was college educated and encouraged and supported each of her children to do the same. Each of them has earned at least 2 college degrees. She authored and published a book "Sand Grows More Than Melons", a story about growing up in the Oakdale Community of rural Woods County, OK. She met Don Adams at Wesley Foundation while at Oklahoma State University and reconnected at the YAF singles class at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa. They were married on July 26 1958, in Rose Chapel at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 26, 2008. To this union were born 4 children. At Boston Avenue United Methodist Church she served on the Administrative Board, the Work Area on Missions Committee, the Reconciliation Council and several other committees from time to time. She taught Sunday School in just about all the Adult and Youth Sunday School classes at one time or another. She taught Disciple Bible courses and other Bible studies. She served as Secretary of the United Methodist Tulsa District Hispanic Steering Committee for many years.
