John Richard McFarland, 69, of Farmington, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in Albuquerque after undergoing heart bypass surgery. He was born Aug. 16, 1940, in Cass Lake, Minn., the eldest of seven children born to John Knox McFarland and Barbara Dugas McFarland.
He is survived by his brothers, Mark, Tim and Dennis of Farmington; sisters, Suzanne Monaghan of Haymarket, Va., Rita Herbranson of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Mary Reese of Bend, Ore.; local nieces and nephews, Lynne (Bob) Abbott, Danny, Jeff, J.J., Christopher and Shawn McFarland; first cousin, Steve (Julie) Baird of Farmington; 12 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins living outside the Farmington area.
Friends of the family are invited to attend a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2100 E. 20th St., in Farmington.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Interment will be at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St., in Farmington, followed by a reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to your favorite charity.
