The following was researched by Chris Pitzer:
Copy of holographic will of Lewis Bernard Pitzer.
Lewis Bernard's will was written by William H. Terrill, who later married Lewis Bernard's daughter Elizabeth. The will was never probated as his affairs were in a very involved condition. Jane Kyle Pitzer gave the original will to her daughter Mary Jane Pitzer Wise who gave it to her daughter Cornelia Haywood Wise Moore, wife of Israel Snead Moore who gave it to her son Maurice Moore of Lynchburg.

"I Bernard Pitzer of the County of Allegheny and State of Virginia, being of sound mind and disposing memory and taking into consideration the uncertainties of life do make and constitute this my last will and testament hereby revolving all former wills made by me.
Imprimis: It is my will and desire that my body after my decease shall be decently buried and that my executors herein after named superintend the same and defray all reasonable expenditures thereby incurred and remunerate themselves out of the proceeds of my estate set apart for the payment of all my just debts.
Item 2nd. I give and bequeath unto my, wife one third part of my personal estate to be enjoyed by her during her natural life, afterwards to be distributed as is hereinafter directed.
Item 3rd. I give and bequeath to my two sons, Joseph and Ducat (Diuguid) one dollar each to be paid them by my executors as soon as may be after my decease.
Item 4th. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Frances the sum of five hundred dollars to be paid her by my executors as soon as may be after my decease.
Item 5th. I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Mary Jane, the sum of five hundred dollars to be paid to her by my executors as soon as may be after my decease.
Item6th. I devise and bequeath unto my two sons, Rufus and Albert, my saw and grist mill situated in the County of Allegheny, also one hundred and ninety acres of land attached to and adjoining the same.
Item 7th. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Elizabeth, the sum of five hundred dollars to be paid by my executors when she, arrives at, the age of twenty-one years, also my riding horse, a saddle and bridle to be delivered to her as soon as may be after my death.
Item 8th. It is my will and desire that all my perishable property, such as stock of every description, corn, wheat, rye and every article of agricultural produce household and kitchen furniture, farming utensils, etc., also my Negroes shall be sold by my executors upon a credit-of twelve months and the proceeds of such sale after the payment of the legacies to my children herein before bequeathed, and alto the bequeasts herein after made.
Item 9th. I give and bequeath to my son, Madison, the sum of One thousand dollars.
Item 10th. It is my will and desire that the balance of my estate, both real and personal be equally divided between all my children with the exception of my sons Joseph and Ducot whose ingratitude has caused me to debar them from any further participation in the final distribution on my property than the above bequest of one dollar to each of them.
I do hereby constitute and appoint James Merry, William H. Terrill, and my son, Madison Pitzer, my executors to carry into effect this my last will and testament. In testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 24th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five."
