Sir Geoffrey Fenton, of Fenton, Nottinghamshire, was an author and a friend of poet Edmund Spenser before becoming Principal Secretary of State in Ireland under Queen Elizabeth I. He was the brother of Edward Fenton and the uncle of Sir William Parsons, Bart. He married Alice, daughter of Robert Weston, Lord Chancellor of Ireland. He was the father of Catherine Fenton Boyle and an ancestor of the late Queen Mother. He was buried in the Weston tomb in St. Patrick's.
